Turkey's former Chief of General Staff & the seventh President Kenan Evren as well as former Commander of Air Forces Tahsin Sahinkaya filed a petition with Turkish Constitutional Court arguing that their individual rights were violated in the September 12 coup case. Sources said that Evren and Sahinkaya's lawyers filed the petition on Tuesday.
The petition argued that Evren and Sahinkaya's rights were violated with the September 12 coup case.
The petition underlined that both Evren and Sahinkaya were not involved in any illegal behaviour between September 12, 1980 and December 6, 1983.
The petition reminded the Turkish Constitutional Court that applications were filed earlier stressing that the public case, which said there was an attempt to overthrow the Turkish Parliament, based on Article 146 of the Turkish Penal Code, was non-existent legally.Last Mod: 14 Şubat 2013, 09:43
