Facebook has activated an ‘I Vote’ button for Turkish users ahead of the country’s general election.
Some 150,000 users shared their voting information in the first two hours from the button becoming available on Sunday morning.
The social media giant has unveiled similar features for elections in the U.S., U.K., India, EU parliament plus 2014’s Scottish independence referendum.
Facebook users are able to announce that they voted but without identifying the name of the party they chose.
Voters’ statistical information, such as gender and age group, is shared.
Facebook's Government and Politics Specialist Elizabeth Linder said that the application was established to encourage voters to participate in their countries’ elections.
