France defeated Spain 72-66 in Group D of 2010 World Basketball Championship in the Aegean province of Izmir on Saturday.

France's technical director said that his team displayed a spectacular defense in the game.

Speaking to reporters after the game, French national team's coach Vincent Collet said although his team started the game weak, its defense was successful and it showed a great performance especially in the last minutes of the match.

Making a statement on the game, Spain's coach Sergio Scariolo noted that his team had been dominant in the first 35 minutes, however, its defense had weakened afterwards.

Scariolo said the Spanish team's percentage of free-throws had been quite low and added that his team should play more offensive.
