Minister of Transport and Communications Binali Yilidirim, Minister of Finance Mehmet Simsek and Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock Mehdi Eker attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Yildirim stated that they prioritized the investments in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia Region in the past 10 years despite all the difficulties.

Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek also said the new airport would contribute to the solution process in the region.

"We need to embrace and support the solution process and the environment of confidence strongly. This is really a great investment. Diyarbakir is worth it" said Simsek.
