A Turkish national basketball player, Mehmet Okur, has transferred to Turk Telekom of Turkey's Beko Basketball League after playing at the U.S. National Basketball Association (NBA) for about 10 years.
Speaking to the AA, Okur said that he was away from Turkey for about 10 years, adding "it is exciting to be with the Turk Telekom family in Ankara".
"I love Ankara and the fans of this city. I had no difficulty in choosing Turk Telekom," Okur said.
"We aim to play good both in Europe and in Turkey. We wish to achieve the best result possible," Okur said.
"Beko Basketball League will be extremely tough this year. All teams have made important transfers," Okur said.
"My period of injuries is over. I feel really good now," Okur said.
Touching on the Turkish National Basketball team, Okur said that the national team would achieve good results in upcoming years.
Okur came to Ankara after a lock-out at the NBA. He will return to the U.S. when the NBA lock-out is over.
