Civil society organizations began working for an aid corridor in order to facilitate the transportation of aid materials to the Syrian people after successfully concluding the "Winter has arrived...Bread and Blanket for Syria" campaign.
In a written statement released on Tuesday, the civil society organizations underlined that around 200 million Turkish liras (approx. 111.1 million USD) worth of aid were collected under the winter campaign also supported by the Turkish Prime Ministry, the Turkish Red Crescent Aid Society (Kizilay) and Turkish Religious Foundation (TDV).
"We thank all those who have joined our campaign. Our winter campaign has ended but our humanitarian aid organizations continue to provide assistance to the Syrian people," the statement said.
"While humanitarian assistance continues, we will begin a new campaign to open a 'road of charity for Syria'," the statement emphasized.
"We invite international organizations, Islamic countries, the western world, regional and global powers, media organizations, civil society organizations, and international conscience to help open a humanitarian assistance corridor for our Syrian brothers and sisters," the statement also said.Last Mod: 01 Mayıs 2013, 09:31
