The Interbank Card Center data indicate that the number of credit cards has increased by 30 percent since 2008 and reached 56.4 million.
While 43.4 million credit cards were being used in Turkey back in 2008, the figure has risen to 54.3 million at the end of 2012, reaching 56.4 million as of May.
According to the Interbank Card Center's recent data, the total cost of transactions via credit cards has hit TRY168.2 billion in the first five months of 2013 while it was yearly TRY185.5 billion in 2012.
The figure realized as TRY361.3 billion as of the end 2012.
When the total number of credit cards is proportioned to the total population, each Turkish citizen has at least one credit card.
