A new oil reserve has been discovered in the south-eastern Turkish province of Siirt.

The oil well, which is approximately 7 km from the Eruh district near the village of Bayiryuzu, has been found to be capable of producing 150 barrels of oil a day.

According to Siirt’s AK Party MP Afif Demirkiran, the Guney Yildizi firm and Turkey’s national oil firm TPAO discovered the Dogu Sadak-1 well in the mountainous region.

The 2,400 meter squared well produces three times more oil than the average well in Turkey. It is also believed to be of the best quality oil in the country.
