A Pakistani charity has arrived at the Turkey-Syria border to feed Syrian refugees, the organization said Tuesday.

The Saylani Welfare Trust distributed food to 16,500 people on the border on Tuesday and is setting up a bakery.

Joint Secretary Muhammad Aamir Iqbal said the trust was due to signing an agreement with Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).

“We are in the process of establishing a bakery near the Syrian border at a cost of $100,000,” he said. “This bakery will have capacity to bake 150,000 loaves a day… Initially, the bakery will provide bread for next six months.”

The aid is being distributed in cooperation with AFAD.
