The “Turkey-Mediterranean Peace and Youth Ship” has reached Tunisian capital Tunis after departing from Istanbul in an effort to contribute to world peace.
Within the scope of the Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sports project, 800 youths from 50 different countries are transmitting the message "we are all on the same ship.” The ship sailed to the Mediterranean Sea on October 29 and reached Tunisia, the birthplace of the "Arab Spring,” after visiting Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Peace envoys were welcomed with trumpets in Tunisia on the 6th day of the “Peace Tour”. They will remain in the country for two days.
Mounting on camels at the port, peace envoys went by bus to a touristic region of capital Tunis, Sidi Bou Said. Walking on the sidewalks surrounded with white and stone houses, the youths shopped and had photos taken.
Young peace envoys will visit the Carthage Ruins and Bardo National Museum on the second day of their visit.
The project was announced by Turkish Youth and Sport Minister Suat Kilic during the opening speech of a panel discussion on Islamophobia which brought young journalists together in Istanbul on January 26.
The “Peace Voyage” will end on November 7 in Istanbul.
