A Turkish troop was killed in a clash with PKK militants Thursday in the southeastern province of Tunceli, security officials have said.

The staff sergeant was killed in the fire fight in the Pulumur town during a sweep mission which was launched after militants set ablaze a truck on Tuesday.

Security officials said an operation was underway in the region with reinforcements.
