Police is questioning 11 people after US citizen Sarai Sierra was found dead in Istanbul on Saturday.
33 year-old Sierra has been missing since January 21, and her body was discovered in Istanbul's Fatih district near the remains of ancient city walls in Sarayburnu.
Investigators focus on the possibility that she might have been killed elsewhere and moved to the spot where her body was discovered.
Sierra's body was brought to Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy.
On the other hand, a witness told police that she saw a white car in Sarayburnu, and a man who was trying to pull something out of the car.
Sierra, a New Yorker and mother of two, arrived in Istanbul on January 12 for a solo travel and she was last heard from on January 21, the day when she was supposed to return to the US.
On January 15, she flied to the Netherlands and then to Munich, Germany. She returned to Istanbul on January 19.
Sierra was murdered by a blow to the head, the city's police chief was quoted as saying on Sunday.
The husband of Sarai Sierra, 33, from New York, identified her body late on Saturday at an Istanbul morgue.
"It's certain she was killed by a blow to the head," police chief Huseyin Capkin was quoted as saying by CNN Turk television.
Police are investigating the possibility that Sierra was killed elsewhere and her body moved to Sarayburnu, the area where she was found.Last Mod: 03 Şubat 2013, 14:17
