On Friday, an Islamist Kurdish party, Huda-Par, protested against an attack by the secular pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP)  in Turkey's southeastern province of Diyarbakir.

BDP supporters attacked Huda-Par supporters on Thursday evening, after the two groups were involved in a dispute over the upcoming local elections. 16 people were injured and five cars were burnt in the attack.

As tension remain, about a thousand people gathered today in Diyarbakır's Ulu Mosque after Friday prayers.

The demonstrators described the attack as an act of fascism.

In the press statement, the Huda-Par said that the BDP was working to build an empire of fear.
