The Patriot air defense system which was deployed in Turkey's southern Kahramanmaraş city has been activated.
Within the scope of Turkey's demand from NATO, Patriot air defense system has recently been deployed in Turkey.
Commander of the German military unit for Patriot systems Marcus Ellermann informed Governor of Kahramanmaras Sukru Kocatepe about the system.
Ellermann reminded that two Patriot batteries, which were set in Gazi Barracks, were tested, and noted, "we did complete the preparatory works and now it functions. Since last night, the system has reached the final operational capacity."
Ellermann mentioned that Turkish troops have supported them during the set up of the system and added, "The system does not contain anything harmful for humans."
Turkey demanded the system to protect its border in case of a missile threat from Syria.
