Serbia wins quarter finalist title after beating Croatia

Serbia narrowly clinched Saturday to victory with a 73-72 win over their Croatian rivals in the round of 16 in the 2010 World Basketball Championship in a game in Istanbul, becoming the first team to make its way to quarter finals.

Dusan Ivkovic, coach of the Serbian basketball team, said that he was happy to defeat Croatia in the 1/8 finals to claim the quarter finalist title in the game in Istanbul in the 2010 World Basketball Championship, which saw a narrow 73-72 for the Serbians.

"It was very hard to keep up a good game against such a wonderful team. It is a huge thing for us to claim such a victory with such a young squad," Ivkovic told reporters after the game.

"This should not be what we got after all the hard work. We have started very well but failed to keep it up," Croatia's coach Josip Vrankovic said.
