Six Syrian illegal immigrants, including one child, were killed, when their boat sank off the Burhaniye town of Turkey's Aegean Balikesir province.

Illegal immigrants were trying to sneak into Greek Lesbos island, when their boat took on water and sank off Pelitkoy hamlet in Burhaniye.

Among the dead, there was a one-and-a-half year old boy.

Turkish Coast Guard teams rescued nine illegal immigrants, while they pulled the bodies to the shore.

The nine rescued immigrants were taken to Burhaniye State Hospital.
