World Bulletin/News Desk

A Turkish soldier was abducted by an armed group in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir on Tuesday, security sources told AA.

Chanting slogans for the organization Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), the masked group set up a road block on the highway linking the towns of Lice and Hani and checked the identity cards of people driving through.

The group reportedly carrying molotov cocktails and guns abducted a specialist sergeant who was driving in one of the cars stopped.

Security forces started a search and rescue operation for the kidnapped soldier.
