Turkish police have seized some 35 kilograms (77 pounds) of heroin hidden in a truck in eastern Agri province, bordering Iran, said a statement on Thursday.

According to the provincial governor’s office, a sniffer dog helped find the illegal substance after the local police stopped the suspicious truck at a checkpoint.

Later, the truck driver of Iranian origin was remanded in custody.
