Strong winds battering İstanbul have been adversely affecting life in the city, forcing authorities to cancel sea transportation and causing delays in traffic and minor accidents.
Scattered rains, which have continued since Thursday midnight, intensified in the city and caused disruptions on early on Friday as many city residents made their way to work.
The storm damaged roofs of many buildings. In Şirintepe neighborhood of Kağıthane district, roof of a five-storey building was torn apart as a result of the strong wind.
Thinking that it was an earthquake, residents flocked to the streets after the roof fell on a highway, blocking the two-way traffic.
İstanbul authorities also cancelled most of the sea transportation due to the adverse weather conditions.Last Mod: 15 Mart 2013, 09:57
