Ottoman Sultan II. Abdulhamid's grandson Abdulhamid Kayihan Osmanoglu requested the last Ottoman Sultan Vahdeddin's body to be brought to Turkey.
Settling in Istanbul after the permit in 1974 for the exiled members of the Ottoman dynasty to return to Turkey, Sultan II. Abdulhamid's grandson Osmanoglu told Turkish press that the Middle East has been far from peace since the collapse of the Ottoman Empire.
"Our Muslim brothers are abandoned because there is no leader. If there is a leader it will all be better in the Islam geography. Unfortunately, the suffering one is always Muslims," he said.
Reminding that the grave of the last Ottoman Sultan Vahdeddin is in Damascus of Syria, Osmanoglu stated "Vahdeddin Khan is buried in Damascus. I would rather see his body be brought here. Because a sultan shouldn't be buried in another country. We must take the necessary measures. So, his body should immediately be brought here."
Noting that the ongoing incidents in Syria are of particular concern to Ottoman dynasty, Osmanoglu expressed his fear that Dundar Efendi, an old member of the dynasty living in Damascus, could be hurt and called on Turkey to claim its sacred ones.Last Mod: 10 Mayıs 2013, 10:17
