Syrian students welcome at Turkish universities

World Bulletin / News Desk

44 thousand foreign students from 25 different countries are studying at Turkish universities, including students from Egypt and Syria.

The largest percentage of students come from Central Asian Turkic Republics with around 15 thousand females and over 28 thousand males, according to Turkish Selection and Placement Center (OSYM) statistics.

The number of students from Egypt and Syria is expected to increase due to a new regulation by the Counsel of Higher Education of Turkey (YOK) supporting students from countries where the education system has been impaired owing to ongoing fighting and crises.

The largest numbers of foreign students study at Anadolu University in Eskisehir, near the Turkish capital, as well as Ankara and Istanbul.
