The use of tobacco and tobacco products dropped across Turkey.
According to a survey conducted by TurkStat, Turkey's statistical authority, 31.3 percent of individuals, who are 15 years old and over, smoke daily or less than daily in 2008. This ratio decreased to 27 percent in 2012.
The rate of tobacco and tobacco product users decreased 6.5 points among men and 2.1 points among women. In other words, this ratios reduced from 47.9 percent to 41.4 percent for men, and from 15.2 percent to 13.1 percent for women.
When analyzing tobacco and tobacco product users according to age group, mostly individuals in the age group of 25-34 and 35-44 declared using tobacco and tobacco products daily or less than daily.
For 25-34 age group, this ratio was 40.3 percent in 2008, while it is 34.9 percent in 2012. For 35-44 age group, this ratio was 39.6 percent in 2008, and 36.2 percent in 2012.
Among individuals of 15 years old and over, who attempted to quit smoking in the last 12 months, the ratio of women increased 40.8 percent in 2008, and 44.9 percent in 2012. The same ratio for men was 40.5 percent in 2008, and 41.8 percent in 2012.
The rate of individuals of 15 years old and over, who are planning to quit smoking within 12 months, was 27.8 percent in 2008, and is 35.4 percent in 2012.Last Mod: 31 Ağustos 2012, 17:37
