The accident has taken place in the town of Akseki at the tight bend of the Akseki-Manavgat Highway.

At least 36 people were injured in a bus accident on the Akseki- Manavgat Highway in Turkey’s Mediterranean coast province of Antalya Sunday, an official said.

Initially, the number of injured was 22, but it quickly rose to 36, Manavgat Governor Emir Osman Bulgurlu said. The wounded were taken to hospitals in nearby Manavgat and Akseki districts.

A helicopter ambulance was used to transfer seven-year-old Batuhan Aydemir to Akdeniz University Medical hospital because of his life-threatening injuries. Most of the passengers are said to be stable.

The accident occurred in the town of Akseki at the tight bend of the Akseki- Manavgat Highway. The bus driver reportedly failed to negotiate a bend and the vehicle turned over. The bus was on its way to Antalya from Kirsehir.
