Turkey announces refugee data

A Foreign Relations Expert of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Metin Corabatir, said Monday 16,337 non-European people registered with the UNHCR as refugees in Turkey.

Speaking to the AA, Corabatir said that 16,337 non-European people included 10,350 displaced persons and 5,987 asylum seekers.

Those refugees who have entered Turkey are placed in one of 32 satellite locations in all corners of Turkey and are under the supervision of the Turkish Interior Ministry, Corabatir said.
