"We have historical expectations from this visit, which is the first in our bilateral relations," Alberto Gonzales Casals said in an interview Friday.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his delegation are paying a three-day official visit to Colombia, Cuba and Mexico.
"Another important expectation is to increase bilateral economic relations and business between the two countries," added Casals.
Casals said Turkey and Cuba are also expected to sign a cultural agreement.
"The culture of Cuba is very well-known in Turkey. Turkish culture is renowned in Cuba. We have much to develop in tourism," said Casals.
This is the second visit of a Turkish high level delegation to Latin American countries, with the first held in 1995.
Erdogan said Sunday before departing from Istanbul that this will be the first visit of a Turkish President to Colombia, Cuba and Mexico.
Erdogan's talks during the visits will focus on regional and international developments, bilateral relations and signing cooperation agreements in different fields.
