Turkish health minister said on Friday that Turkey hosted nearly 500,000 foreign patients in 2010.
Health Minister Recep Akdag told AA correspondent that they achieved significant success in several areas within the scope of Transformation Project in Health, stating that Turkey had an important place in the medical tourism sector.
Akdag said that Turkey attracted patients especially from the Middle East and Europe, stating that nearly 500,000 foreign tourists visited Turkey in 2010 to receive treatment in the country.
There was need to increase the number of doctors, nurses and other health personnel to improve the medical tourism sector, he added.
