UEFA, Europe's football governing body, has assigned Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir to be in charge of a semi-final showdown between Spain and Portugal which will be played on Wednesday at Ukraine's Donetsk.

Cakir, the youngest official of the Euro 2012, so far has worked on Ukraine 2-1 Sweden, and Italy 2-0 Ireland.

France's Stephane Lannoy is the referee for the other semi-final game on Thursday between Germany and Italy.
