Turkey's fourth face transplant patient woke up and his condition is well.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Yilmaz told AA on Thursday that Turan Colak, who underwent a successful face transplant surgery at Akdeniz University two days ago, woke up yesterday, adding that his health condition was well.

"He hears and understands us. He implied he is well. We don't want him move too much," said Yilmaz.

Noting that Colak underwent a successful full face transplant and an ear transplant surgery, Yilmaz said that his health condition was very well.

The face of 19-year-old Tevfik Yilmaz was transplanted to 34-year-old Colak on Tuesday. The surgery lasted for nine hours, and was performed by Prof. Omer Ozkan.

Turkey's first face transplant surgery was made in January again by Prof. Ozkan who also performed Turkey's first double arm transplant in September 2010 and the world's first ever womb transplant from a cadaveric donor in August 2011.
