Turkey's Galatasaray said Thursday that they signed Lorik Cana from English Premier League side Sunderland.

Galatasaray agreed with Cana on a four-year contract. Istanbul side will pay 4.5 million euro to Sunderland until 2012 and Cana will get 2 million euro a year, Galatasaray said.

The 26-year-old Albanian is a defensive midfielder. He was the captain at Sunderland and vice captain for Albanian national team.

Before joining Sunderland, Cana played for Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille. During his career in France, Cana made 191 appearances.

Cana played 35 matches with Sunderland last season.
