Turkey's interior minister said on Friday that Turkish police, gendarmerie and other domestic security units were always ready for an operation against acts of terrorism.

Turkey's Interior Minister Idris Naim Sahin said the investigation carried out by inspectors of Interior Ministry after PKK attack in Silvan town of southeastern province of Diyarbakir can be concluded within a week.

Sahin responded to the questions of reporters at the airport of Black Sea province of Samsun.

Asked about giving new responsibilities to police in domestic security services, Sahin said, "Prime minister has made a statement that police would assume more effective role against acts of terrorism.

This is a statement made in line with the planning and preparations carried out by the ministry. There is no timetable. Turkish police, gendarmerie, and other domestic security units are always ready for operation. Making a statement beforehand is regardless of question."
