Turkish prime minister extended his condolences and support for the families of two men who died of injuries they received on Thursday during protests in Istanbul.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan held phone conversations Sunday with the families of Ugur Kurt and Ayhan Yilmaz, as well as two injured police officers, Veli Akyuz and Talha Islek, Erdogan's office told the Anadolu Agency.

Kurt, 30, died on Thursday night after being hit by a stray bullet in the head while attending a funeral procession in a prayer house close to the scene of the protests in Okmeydani district.

Yilmaz lost his life the following day from injuries he received when an explosive which the police had said was thrown by unidentified protesters blasted near him amid Thursday's clashes in Okmeydani.
