Turkey's Anadolu Kartarlari (Anatolian Eagle) airforce started an 11-day military exercize abovew the city of Konya on Monday.
Although the annual event is usually conducted along with the airforces of other countries, this year the exercize will be entirely domestic.
The exercize is designed to test pilots in a war-like scenario and prevent as many civilian deaths as possible and has been held every year since 2001.
Frigates, corvettes, assault boats, minehunters, submarines, helicopters and jets will also be involved in the drill to test the readiness of the Turkish navy.
The event will also be a seen as Turkey flexing its muscles amid tensions with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) rebels in Syria, who have threatened to attack Turkey's base on the Suleiman Shah tomb in Aleppo.Last Mod: 07 Nisan 2014, 15:19
