A Turkish court has ordered arrest of a 26-year-old man as a suspect in the murder of a Roman Catholic bishop.

The court in the southern town of Iskenderun arrested Murat A. for stabbing to death Luigi Padovese, Apostolic Vicar in Anatolia, outside his house on Thursday.

A local Turkish governor has said "a thorough" investigation was underway into the killing of the Roman Catholic bishop.

The governor said the suspect, who reportedly had mental issues, served as Padovese's driver for the last four and a half years.
