Turkish drone 'neutralizes 3 extremists' in southeast

World Bulletin / News Desk

A Turkish drone “neutralized” at least three extremists in an airstrike in southeastern Turkey’s Hakkari province Monday, according to the army.

The Turkish General Staff said in a statement the drone carried out an air offensive against PKK extremists in Yuksekova district’s Keylani Tepe region at around 6.00 a.m. (0300GMT)

Turkey’s military said 323 extremists had been neutralized in Hakkari province since operations there began.

The PKK – listed as a extremist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU – resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year.

Since then, PKK extremist attacks have martyred more than 600 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while more than 7,000 PKK extremists were killed in army operations.
