Two Turkish F-16 fighter jets were scrambled into the skies on Tuesday to chase off two Greek F-16s that were approaching Turkish airspace.

The incident happened at 11:25 local time above the Aegean Sea. Within half an hour, Turkish jets were in the skies where they patrolled the area until 13:31 local time.

Tomorrow, the Greek airforce will participate in a joint exercize code named 'Nemesis 2014' with the US, Israel and the Greek Cypriot administration in the eastern Mediterranean.

According to the Greek Cypriot daily Fileleftheros, the drill's aim is to test the readiness of the armies to protect a hydrocarbon extraction platform in the region.
