Turkish Religious Foundation (TDV) launched a campaign, called "Time to help the Philippines", to support the relief efforts in the Philippines hit by the Typhoon Haiyan.
An aid team of three people, formed by TDV went to the Philippines to examine the disaster zone on site and to meet urgent needs of sufferers. After they concluded their research, long-termed aid plans will be made.
Deputy Director General of TDV Mustafa Tutkun told AA that Haiyan's cost getting worse day by day, saying, "According to the latest data from United Nations, nearly 12 million people were affected by the Typhoon Haiyan which caused hunger and thirst across the country"
Tutkun stated that they need humanitarian assistance supplies, medical support and urgent need stuffs, and it is not possible for sufferers to overcome the problems alone.
"Relief organizations try to meet the needs in the Philippines. We aim to meet urgent needs as a first step and provide permanent services in the long term. TDV succoured people in Somali, Chad, Mali, Haiti and Rakhine before" he added.Last Mod: 21 Kasım 2013, 13:37
