A Turkish prosecutor's office has issued a motion requesting that the head of the country's main opposition Republican People's Party be stripped of his legislative immunity.
The chief public prosecutor's office in the northwestern province of Tekirdag submitted the request to Parliament on Tuesday against Kemal Kilicdaroglu over remarks he allegedly made against Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan during an election rally.
Kilicdaroglu insulted the prime minister by calling him a "head of thieves, thief, liar, trickster and dictator" during the rally held on 4 March, it is claimed.
If lawmakers support the motion, it would leave Kilicdaroglu open to prosecution.
