A suspect has been taken into custody over the killing of a Turkish soldier in the southeastern province of Mardin, the local governorate said on Monday.
The suspect, identified only through the initials S.K, was apprehended by the gendarmerie, the Mardin governorate said.
The governorate added that they had launched an operation to find the other attackers.
A Turkish soldier, Abdullah Umit Sercan, was killed and another, Cumhur Ozsoy, seriously wounded in an armed attack on a military vehicle late Saturday.
The military vehicle was reportedly attacked by members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the Bahcelievler neighborhood of Midyat district, official sources said.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by the EU, the U.S. and Turkey.
