The 90th anniversary of Republic of Turkey will be celebrated all over in Turkey on October 29, 2013.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his official message for October 29 stated there was no place for an autocratic mentality, pressure or any kind of a class in democratic regimes under Republics and added Turkey and the Turkish Republic would be governed and dignified together as during the foundation of the country.
"Let's not forget that in the philosophy of our Republic's foundation and in the aim of its establishment, no othering, exclusion, condemning or insulting were included. This Republic belongs to all, it belongs to all of us," Erdogan noted.
The Republic Day of Turkey on October 29 is the commemoration of the proclamation of the Turkish Republic in 1923.
The official recognition of the Turkish Republic took place on October 29, 1923 by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
On that day, the new name of the nation and its status as a Republic was declared.
After the declaration, a vote occurred in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and Ataturk, a revolutionary statesman and founder of Turkish Republic, was elected as the first president of the Republic of Turkey by unanimous vote.
Since then, Turkey celebrates its Republic Day every year on October 29.Last Mod: 29 Ekim 2013, 12:04
