A Turkish soldier was shot in Turkey’s southeastern province of Hakkari, after a militant group from northern Iraq shot at him, said Turkey’s top military office Sunday.
Turkish soldier Erkan Yavuz was injured and taken to hospital in Hakkari according to a press release from the Turkish General Staff's website.
The incident occurred around 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The group of 10-12 militants fired 50-60 shots during a 45 minute period, said the press release.
