Saudi Arabia has donated over 10 million doses of polio vaccine to Pakistan to help the country contain the crippling disease.
A spokesman for Pakistan's Expanded Immunization Program confirmed Tuesday the delivery of 10,035,000 dozes of polio vaccine from Saudi Arabia.
In line with the World Health Organization's travel restrictions on Pakistan, the doses will be administered to every Pakistani intending to travel abroad.
Pakistan is one of only three countries, alongside Afghanistan and Nigeria, where polio remains endemic and its persistence is considered a threat to the possible spread of polio to other countries.
Travel restrictions mean Pakistanis travelling abroad have to be vaccinated against polio before leaving the country.
There have been 82 people in Pakistan testing positive for the disease in 2014. 63 of these cases were reported in lawless North Waziristan region of the country.Last Mod: 08 Temmuz 2014, 13:58
