The Zambian government received humanitarian aid sent by the Turkish Red Crescent for its fight against cholera, according to a statement on Sunday.
The aid, including hygiene kits and liquid chlorine, was distributed to 150 children at an orphanage, 1,500 children at a primary school, and 16,000 refugees from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Angola, and Mozambique living in camps.
A team of experts from the Turkish Red Crescent also gave trainings for hygiene and sanitation along with Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
Since the cholera outbreak last October, more than 4,000 people were treated for cholera, of which 88 died, according to the Zambian Health Ministry.
