Three people were killed and ten others injured in the explosion of two booby-trapped cars in the southern Iraqi province of Muthanna, a local official said.
The two car bombings targeted a highway restaurant in Rumaitha town, deputy head of Muthanna council Harth Lahmoud told Anadolu Agency.
The restaurant, on the highway connecting Baghdad and Basra, was badly damaged by the twin blasts, the official added.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Such an attack is rare in the predominantly Shiite province, which borders Saudi Arabia from the north.
Recent months have seen an uptick in violence across Iraq.
Observers warn that the violence could negatively impact April 30 parliamentary polls in the country.
