Seven civilians were injured on Friday when the Iraqi army shelled residential areas in western Fallujah city, a health official said.
"Seven people sustained light and moderate injuries," Wissam al-Issawi, spokesperson for the Fallujah General Hospital, told Anadolu Agency.
There was no comment from the Iraqi military on the claim.
Since last December, the Iraqi army has been battling rebels in the western Anbar province – of which Fallujah is a key city.
Since the offensive began late last year, hundreds of civilians have been killed and injured in Fallujah and Ramadi, according to government officials.
Fallujah remains inaccessible to Iraqi security forces since rebels from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) – whom the government says is linked to al-Qaeda – seized control of the city.Last Mod: 02 Mayıs 2014, 14:08
