ExxonMobil is about to start drilling for oil in the autonomous Kurdistan region of northern Iraq.

Already, oil rigs have been established in the Pirmam exploration block.

This has been met positively by the autonomous regional government as it strengthens their hand in their seeking of full autonomy and even independence from the Baghdad administration.
