An alleged ISIL militant detonated his suicide vest at a mosque in al-Baghdadi district that left four policemen dead and three others wounded, town police chief Col. Farouq al-Jughaifi said.
Also, ISIL militants attacked a police station in Ramadi, the capital of the restive Anbar province. No casualties were reported in the incident, Brigadier-General Hamid Shendud said.
Iraq has been gripped with a security vacuum since June 2014, when ISIL stormed the northern Iraqi province Mosul and declared what it called a caliphate in Iraq and Syria.
The Iraqi army, along with Kurdish Peshmerga forces, armed tribesmen and the U.S.-led international coalition, is staging a fight back against the ISIL in Iraq and Syria.
