Kurdish political party leaders have gathered to discuss forming a new and unique Iraqi government.
The meeting on Monday was being conducted under the presidency of Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani and included five other parties' leaders, in the northern Iraqi Kurdish city of Sulaymaniyah.
The meeting also hosted Brett McGurk, the Deputy U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran.
McGurk said: "We have exchanged views on the latest developments in Iraq with our friends.
"During the meeting, we also made serious decisions for the Kurdish people's future that we hope the new Iraqi government will form as soon as possible under the Iraqi constitution."
President Fuad Masum named Haider Al-Abadi as prime minister on August 11, ending former PM Nouri al-Maliki's eight-year rule.
