Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki has called for cooperation with Turkey in counterterrorism in a statement which said, "We should not dispute on this, even if we have differences in politics or economy."
In the statement, written after meeting with Turkish Parliement Speaker Cemil Cicek who visited Iraq, Maliki noted, "We want a bright future for our relations. The relations should be based on respect and mutual interests without interfering in each other's interior affairs."
Regarding Syria, Maliki stressed that "Despite its difficulty, Iraq keeps its stance based on non-interference in the country's internal affairs."
Cicek held talks with Iraqi Vice President Khudheir Al-Khuzaie as well as parliament speaker Usama Al-Nujaifi during his visit on Tuesday.Last Mod: 27 Kasım 2013, 12:39
