The Iraqi army in the city of Kirkuk has seen a mass exodus of soldiers. The 12th Division in the governorate of Ta'mim saw the defection of 20 soldiers.

The Commander of the first regiment of the 47th Brigade, Colonel Saad Ibrahim Hassan Al-Azzawi, is also included. Lieutenants, captains and majors are also among the defectors.

According to Yaqeen news, Al-Azzawi protested against what he called a "militia government" and called on other soldiers to to follow suit. He also added that many Iraqi soldiers feel that their orders are coming from Tehran instead of Baghdad.
