The PKK terrorist group attacked the Kirkuk-Yumurtalik oil pipeline inside the Turkish province of Sanliurfa, the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government said in a statement late Wednesday.
The KRG Natural Resources Ministry strongly condemned the attack, stating that the Kurdish region is suffering from an economic crisis and selling oil is an important source for the Peshmerga forces’ salaries.
Peshmerga forces are currently fighting the ISIL terrorist group.
The ministry also asked the Turkish government to adopt more security measures since the decrease in oil prices has harmed the Peshmerga forces.
The KRG also strongly condemned recent statements by the PKK terror group about transferring natural gas to Turkey.
“We strongly condemn PKK’s threatening statements against the expected transfer of natural gas to Turkey,” the KRG said.
